Welcome to the new website of South Yorkshire Community Foundation

Connecting people who care to causes that matter....

South Yorkshire Community Foundation aims to improve lives in our  communities

It does this through raising funds from businesses, philanthropists, trusts and statutory bodies and using them to meet the needs of local people facing economic hardship and other barriers to aspiration .

We have two very distinct roles to fulfil :-

The first is to act as a "donor services agency", meeting the needs of communities, and of individuals in certain cases, through the delivery of appropriate grants

The second is to offer targetted community support allied to the finance we hold, and the donors we serve, to produce imaginative and skillful local solutions to particular problems.

Further Success for SYCF with Award of Grassroots Grants Funding

On the back of numerous recent successes, South Yorkshire Community Foundation has now been chosen as the region's spearhead for a new £130 million government grants scheme.

The Grassroots Grants programme is split into two funds that will run alongside each other. The first, an £80 million small grants scheme, will enable community organisations to apply for grants ranging from £250 to £5000.  The second, a £50 million endowments programme will allow local donors to match any money they invest with government funds to maximise their ability to provide long term funding.

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation has been given the responsibility of administering the endowment challenge in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and for the small grants scheme all but Doncaster.

The scheme will run until 2011 and marks a significant investment by the government in the development of local charity giving.

Small organisations throughout Barnsley, Rotherham and Sheffield who want information on how to apply for the small grants scheme should e-mail grassroots@sycf.org.uk.

For donors interested in getting involved with the endowment challenge, contact Sandra Mullins on 0114 2424857.
