Targeted Support Fund to help recession-hit groups in Barnsley and Rotherham
30th April 2009
RECESSION hit organisations in Barnsley and Rotherham will be able to apply for funding from a new £650,000 pot being administered by the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
Through the Targeted Support Fund being launched by the Office of the Third Sector, grants will be available to local third sector organisations who have experienced increased demand for their services as a result of the recession.
Local organisations with an average annual turnover of £30,000 to £250,000 (and who are registered charities, company limited by guarantee or similar) will be eligible to apply for assistance from this fund.
More than £310,000 in Barnsley and almost £340,000 in Rotherham will be available in grants of between £10,000 and £40,000.
It is a one year programme, aiming to benefit 50 areas in England, that have been chosen on the basis of those deemed at 'most risk of increased deprivation' due to the recession.
Sheffield has not been given an allocation for the fund and the allocation in Doncaster will be delivered by the Doncaster Central Development Trust.
Services that will be funded under the Targeted Support Fund will be those that are providing key, recession focussed services under one of the themes below:
- Information, advice and guidance (housing, financial, debt and legal advice and support).
- Employment and employablity (training and support related to finding employment).
- Health and wellbeing (mental health, relationship breakdown, counselling, domestic violence & substance abuse).
SYCF are now open to applications, with the deadline for receipt of applications on June 29, 2009.
