NEW YEAR cheer is set to kick in after Dearne FM launched its first ever community cash giveaway in association with the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.

Voluntary led groups and projects that do fantastic work to help people in the area will be able to make waves with a cash grant of between £250 and £700.

Through the Grassroots Grants programme, SYCF has grant funding available for groups led by unsung heroes in Barnsley, and a bumper pot of £10,000 has been made available exclusively to Dearne FM listeners.

Voluntary or community organisations that operate for the benefit of residents in Barnsley and have and annual income of less than £30,000 could be eligible to get hold of a grant to give a New Year boost to their activities.

The purpose of the Dearne FM Community Cash Giveaway is to support small, largely volunteer led community organisations and groups, which often have limited resources.

The type of group or organisation that are eligible will:

The funding can be entirely for capital purchases (e.g. computers, photocopiers, digital projectors, etc), or for operational costs (e.g. rent, stationery, telephone costs, activities, etc) or a mixture of both.

How much can you apply for?

Grants of between £250 and £700 are available for this Community Cash Giveaway in partnership with Dearne FM.

If successful, grants must be spent by the 31st of December 2010

Who and what cannot be funded?

PLEASE NOTE: if your group has already been awarded a small grant through a community cash giveaway you will not be able to apply for this one. Please contact the office about this if you are unsure.
