The Rother FM Community Cash Giveaway
THE DEADLINE FOR THE ROTHER FM COMMUNITY CASH GIVEAWAY HAS PASSED
However community groups in Rotherham can still apply for a grant from our other funding streams. Click here to see how your community group can benefit from a boost from the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
NEW YEAR cheer is set to kick in after Rother FM launched its first ever community cash giveaway in association with the South Yorkshire Community Foundation.
Voluntary led groups and projects that do fantastic work to help people in the area will be able to make waves with a cash grant of between £250 and £700.
Through the Grassroots Grants programme, SYCF has grant funding available for groups led by the unsung heroes of Rotherham, and a bumper pot of £10,000 has been made available exclusively to Rother FM listeners.
Voluntary or community organisations that operate for the benefit of residents in Rotherham and have and annual income of less than £30,000 could be eligible to get hold of a grant to give a New Year boost to their activities.
The purpose of the Rother FM Community Cash Giveaway is to support small, largely volunteer led community organisations and groups, which often have limited resources.
The type of group or organisation that are eligible will:
- Be a not-for-profit, voluntary or community group.
- Have an income of less than £30,000 per annum.
- Be volunteer led (i.e. with mainly volunteer based input).
- Have a governing document – ie constitution or set of rules.
- Operate for the benefit of their local communities in Rotherham.
The funding can be entirely for capital purchases (e.g. computers, photocopiers, digital projectors, etc), or for operational costs (e.g. rent, stationery, telephone costs, activities, etc) or a mixture of both.
How much can you apply for?
Grants of between £250 and £700 are available for this Community Cash Giveaway in partnership with Rother FM.
If successful, grants must be spent by the 31st of December 2010
Who and what cannot be funded?
- Statutory organisations such as local authorities, schools and the Police.
- Regional or local offices of a national organisation.
- Activities that promote political or religious beliefs. Groups that are based in a religious building can apply, providing the activity / project is open to all people in the community.
- Retrospective funding – this includes activities that have already taken place or repayment of money that you have already spent.
- Individuals.
- Organisations that operate for the sole benefit or relief of animals or plants. Grassroots Grants are for the direct benefit of communities of people only. This does not preclude city farms or other groups and organisations that work with animals and/or the environment to benefit people from applying.
PLEASE NOTE: if your group has already been awarded a small grant through a community cash giveaway you will not be able to apply for this one. Please contact the office about this if you are unsure.
