Hold a fundraising event
Fundraising events can be a great way of raising valuable funds for community projects while having fun at the same time.
We can suggest ideas for one-off fundraising events to raise funds for SYCF, with many prominent organisations naming us as their annual chosen charity to benefit from fundraising efforts.
A full fundraising pack will soon be available to download, so you can begin planning your own fundraising event to raise money for South Yorkshire.
See below for two fantastic examples of local fundraising.
JCI Sheffield football tournament
Business networking organisation JCI Sheffield named the South Yorkshire Community Foundation as their annual chosen charity for 2009 and set a target to raise of £10,000. They organised a 6-a-side football tournament as their first fundraising event of the year, from which all funds raised would be doubled by our Grassroots Grants endowment challenge.
Around 200 people took part on the day with teams coming from national law firms to Sunday league football teams. JCI Sheffield raised more than £4,500 for SYCF which, when match funded, created a pot of almost £10,000 that will be invested to provide support to community groups and projects forever.
Yorkshire Day
Generous people throughout South Yorkshire signalled their intent to help local causes by taking part in a celebration of Yorkshire Day.
Proud Yorkshire folk got involved with a dress down day, whereby they made a £2 donation. Through the Grassroots Grants endowment challenge, every £2 was gift aided and then doubled to create more than a fiver to secure the future of local community projects in South Yorkshire.
This great way of engaging with local businesses and organisations got people thinking about how they can put something back into the local community.
